Will of William Byers of Pulaski
Mercer County Will Book 2, page 421
In the name of God Amen I William Byers of the County of Mercer town of
Pulaski and State of Pa being weak in body but of sound mind memory and
understanding prased be God for it and considering the certainty of death and
the uncertainty of life and that I may be the better prepared to leave this
world when it shall please God to call me hence I do therefore make and
declare this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say,
First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God my
Creator hoping for free pardon and remission of all my sins and to enjoy
everlasting happiness in the heavenly Kingdom through Jesus Christ my saviour
My body I commit to the earth at the discretion executors hereinafter named
and to my worldly estate to be divided in maner following,
I leave and bequeath to my beloved wife Ann Byers a good and suficient
maintenance during her life time her bead and bed clothes one buro and the
clock and the use of the room we sleep in to be kept warm with coal or wood in
cold weather and liberty to cook at the other fire place if she wants and the
large table

table is she wants it,
And ten dollars yearly for her clothing and her hors and saddle.
I leave my son John Byers twenty five dollars and his choice of the lots
unsold
My son Wm S Byers five dollars.
And my son James M Byers the lot he now lives on west of A. Morrison’s lott
and all the land west of the canal except what has been sold.
And my daughter Janey K Donnanldson fifty dollars.
And my daughter Ann Pinkerton fifty dollars
And my daughter Elizabeth Wilson fifty dollars
And my daughter Mary Morrison fifty dollars
And my son Ebenezer W. Byers the place I now live on And the farming
utensials one waggon And Secorts Comment and the Confession of faithe and
Bucks Dicsnary. And said E. W. Byers is to keep his mother if shee chooses to
live with him her lifetime. And Ebenezer W Byers 2 cows one horse and their
geers and the farming utensials six chairs and the cubart and one bed and bed
clothes and old buro.
And my daughter Marget Dawson fifty dollars And my executors to make the
deeds for the lots that are sold agreeable to the articles the reast of my
books to be divided as equally as the can be among the children.
And constitute John Byers and John Wilson the executors of this my last will
and testament And after my debts and funeral expenses are paid the remainder
of the money to be divided equally among my daughters Ann Elizabeth Marget and
Mary
In testimony whereof I have hereunto my hand this twenty fourth day of
December 1839 William Byers

Be it remembered that on the 12th day of January AD 1844
personally appeared before me the subscriber Register for the probate of wills
&c in and for said County Absalom McCready and Francis Thompson subscribing
witnesses

to the foregoing will who being duly sworn according to law did depose and say
that they were present with the testator William Byers and heard him declare
the same to be his last will and testament, and at the time of his so doing he
was of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of their
knowledge observation and belief And also that the names Absalom McCready and
Francis Thompson to the said will as witnesses are in their own proper
handwriting subscribed thereto in the presence and at the request of the said
testator
